• Name of your rescue. Sioux
Empire Pit Rescue
• How does someone adopt from your rescue? Best way
to find out about our adoption process is through our website www.pitrescue.weebly.com. From there, people can read bios of available
dogs, learn how the process works (references, fees, etc.) as well as complete
the online adoption application is interested.
• What kind of pets do you rescue? We rescue
pit bull type mixes from high-kill shelters around the country. Some have
been abandoned, abused, used for fighting or bait dogs.
• Where is your rescue based out of? Our
rescue is all-volunteer based in Sioux Falls, SD. Our volunteers (fosters
and others) are located in Sioux Falls or the surrounding areas. We do
not actually have a "shelter or office". Each dog taken in go
to a foster home and are socializied, trained, and loved.
• How many animals come into your care on a monthly basis? At any given moment in the month, we could have up to
around 20 dogs available for adoption. Once one is adopted, we try to
save another dog from death row by filling that spot with that
other dog from a shelter.
• How are you funded? Our funds come from donations
and fundraisers done locally.
• What items are needed on a regular basis? Foster
homes are always needed. However, since foster families are not
responsible for the costs of the dogs, we always need money, blankets, food,
toys, crates, flea/tick meds, and anything else that would be needed to care
for a dog.
• How can a person contact you? (email address, phone number, physical address,
website address) The best way is through our
website www.pitrescue.weebly.com or facebook page for Sioux Empire Pit Rescue.
• What is one thing the public does not know about your rescue? We do not pull from the Sioux Falls Humane Society
as they are a no-kill shelter. We help dogs that are on death row in
other shelters that may not have a good chance of survival.
